Bağdat Caddesi and Sahil Yolu

The premier shopping street on the Asian side of the city, Bağdad Caddesi runs for six kilometers from Kadiköy to Bostancı, passing through or skirting round Kızıltoprak, Feneryolu, Selamiçeşme, Çiftehavuzlar, Göztepe, Caddebostan, Erenköy, Şaşkınbakkal, Suadiye and Çatalçeşme.

Somewhat fancy, Bağdad Caddesi it's more like a modern version of İstiklal Caddesi without the tram and historic buildings.  Come here to shop for big name brands, to eat at classy restaurants and to watch the Turks watching each other.  For much of its lenght this parallel Sahil Yolu provides an alternative walking route with several pleasant seaward facing parks.

Buses and dolmuşes from Kadiköy serve this area with a frustraiting one-way system meanining that they run form Kadiköy to Bostancı along the Coast Road (Sahill Yolu) and then back from Bostancı to Kadiköy along Bağdad Caddesi.
Once the Marmaray project is completed most of the surroundings suburbs are also accessible via the suburban train that crosses the bosphorus.
